Grieving Mother Sells Stillborn Baby’s Crib for $2; Buyer Transforms It and Returns It a Week Later

After a grieving mother sold her stillborn son’s crib at a yard sale, she was taken aback when the buyer returned it just a week later. Valerie Watts had looked forward to welcoming her baby, but her joy turned to heartbreak when she gave birth to a stillborn son. Despite a smooth pregnancy, she sensed something was wrong as she noticed decreased movement. Tragically, Baby Noah's umbilical cord had been pinched, ending his life before it began.

Watts struggled with sadness and found it hard to part with the crib, as it served as a constant reminder of her loss. Gerald Kumpula, who lived nearby and had a workshop, noticed the crib during the Watts family's sale. Although initially unsure about selling it, Watts eventually agreed to the sale.

Kumpula’s wife was browsing the garage sale when she learned about the crib’s significance. Recognizing it belonged to Watts, Kumpula later returned with a transformed piece: a bench made from the crib. Watts was moved to tears upon seeing it, as it now stands as both a reminder of her loss and a source of comfort for the grieving parents.
