After weeks of taking on significant royal responsibilities, Queen Camilla is reportedly stepping back from her duties for a short break. According to Hello!, she will take a week-long hiatus from royal engagements, with her schedule cleared of all official commitments. Queen Camilla is expected to return to her duties on March 11, when she will lead the Royal Family at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. During her absence, other senior royals are set to take on her responsibilities.
This comes after a challenging period for the Royal Family, with King Charles facing health issues. Last month, the King was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer after undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate and is currently receiving further treatment. His condition has kept him from fulfilling many of his usual responsibilities as monarch.
Complicating matters, Kate Middleton was recently hospitalized for a planned abdominal procedure, limiting Prince William’s ability to take on additional royal duties. As a result, Queen Camilla has had to step up, representing the Royal Family at events like the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece.
Her upcoming break is expected to be a welcome respite, allowing her to spend time with King Charles and other family members. Meanwhile, King Charles has been splitting his time between London and the royal estate at Sandringham, Norfolk, as he continues treatment. Though the exact nature and stage of his cancer remain undisclosed, the King has expressed deep gratitude for the public’s support, even sharing that it brought him to tears during a recent meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The Royal Family has reassured the public that Charles remains optimistic and is responding well to treatment.
Similarly, Princess Kate has been recovering at home since her hospital stay in January. While she is not expected to return to royal duties until after Easter, Kensington Palace has emphasized that there is no cause for alarm regarding her health.
Wishing both King Charles and Queen Camilla a peaceful and restorative break.
