Selena Gomez has opened up about why she cannot get pregnant and why such a scenario would pose serious risks to her health.
In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, the 32-year-old actress and singer revealed the medical challenges she faces.

“I unfortunately have a lot of medical issues that would endanger both my life and the baby’s,” Gomez shared. “It was something I had to come to terms with and grieve.”
Gomez, who has been managing lupus since her diagnosis in 2013 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, acknowledged that this is the first time she has publicly addressed her inability to carry a child. “It’s not necessarily how I imagined things would turn out,” she said. “I thought it would happen the way it does for most people.”
Despite the initial sorrow, Gomez has embraced her situation and is considering other paths to motherhood. “I’m in a much better place now,” she revealed. “I’m grateful for the options of surrogacy and adoption, which are both wonderful possibilities for me.”
She expressed appreciation for these alternatives, stating, “It makes me thankful for the other routes available for those eager to become parents. I’m one of those people, and I’m looking forward to that journey, even if it’s a bit different.”
Gomez ended with a touching note: “At the end of the day, I don’t mind. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
Previously, Gomez has expressed her desire to start a family, mentioning in May to Time magazine that she hoped to adopt by age 35 if still single.

Currently, Gomez has been dating record producer Benny Blanco since July 2023. Blanco, 36, recently spoke about his own dreams of fatherhood on The Howard Stern Show. “That’s my next goal, to check the box... I love being around kids,” he said, though he didn’t hint at any proposals.
Gomez responded to his remarks with humor, recalling in her Vanity Fair interview, “I was dying laughing. Like, ‘Anything else you wanted to share?’”

In the same interview, Gomez also expressed her deep affection for Blanco, calling him “a light in [her] life” and her “best friend.” She added, “I’ve never been loved like this... I love sharing everything with him.”
In recent achievements, Gomez has reached billionaire status, largely due to the success of her makeup brand, Rare Beauty, which she launched five years ago. Bloomberg estimates her net worth to be around $1.3 billion.
