A troubling video has surfaced showing an elementary school principal and a clerk in southwest Florida paddling a 6-year-old student, allegedly for scratching a computer screen.
The incident was recorded by the child's mother, who had gone to the school to pay a fine for the damage her daughter was accused of causing. The mother decided to film the encounter, fearing her account would not be believed without evidence.
While the school district’s handbook prohibits corporal punishment, Florida law does not explicitly ban it. The mother described the paddling as violent and frightening, causing both physical injury and potential psychological trauma to her daughter.
The family’s attorney condemned the severity of the punishment, labeling it as “aggravated battery.” The mother has since taken her daughter to a doctor to document her injuries.
The incident has ignited public outrage and calls for justice, with many urging the school district to take appropriate action in response to the situation.
