For one woman who calls herself a real-life Rapunzel, taking care of her hair is practically a full-time job. Alia Nasyrova, 33, has grown her hair to an astonishing 90 inches, earning a living by showcasing her exceptionally long tresses. It has taken her two decades to achieve the length of her favorite fairy tale character, Rapunzel.
"I started growing my hair because I’ve always been fascinated by long hair since childhood," says Nasyrova, a Latvian woman who describes herself as “a model with super long hair and a Queen of long hair!” She was particularly inspired by the long-haired princesses in fairy tales.
Nasyrova earns money by modeling on her website, where she offers exclusive content to her paying fans. "I want to travel the world, find girls with long hair, and share their stories and beauty, which I see as a form of art," she explains.
Her hair routine is a labor of love that requires substantial effort. She spends an hour every day washing her hair and then allows it to air dry for an entire day. When she goes out, she carries a special bag just for her hair care items, which weighs 22 pounds and is filled with shampoo, conditioner, and various hair tools.
She even gives her silky brown hair its own special "workouts" on her yoga mat.
Her husband, Ivan Balaban, is also a fan of her remarkable hair, but he keeps his distance to avoid any accidental damage. "I always snuggle up against the wall to make sure there’s enough room for my hair," he shared in a 2017 interview. "I always speak to the braid with respect. Occasionally, I ask it to shift a little."
However, having hair that trails on the ground does come with its challenges.
Nasyrova recalled a childhood incident at a theater where someone accidentally got chewing gum stuck in her hair. “It was such a disaster!” she remembers. “I had to cut off a big section to get the gum out because it was so difficult to remove.”
Despite her incredible hair length, Nasyrova doesn’t hold the record for the longest hair. According to Guinness World Records, Xie Qiuping from China has the longest hair in the world, measuring an extraordinary 18 feet 5 inches. Xie began growing her hair at the age of 13 in 1973, and it is now nearly as long as a fully grown male giraffe is tall!
Caring for hair can be a challenge for many, so Nasyrova’s dedication and passion for maintaining her stunning locks is truly admirable.
How do you feel about extremely long hair? Could you manage it, or do you prefer a shorter, more manageable style?
