You should have seen my husband’s face!
Amy, a woman in her early 50s, had been looking forward to spending a relaxing Saturday with her husband, Mark, to whom she had been married for six years. That morning, Mark kissed her on the forehead and told her he needed to head to work because he had a lot to do. Trusting him, Amy didn’t think twice. He even promised to bring home some Indian food if he managed to finish his work early. Little did she know, it was all just a cover story.
Amy and Mark had known each other for years before getting married. Mark had been something of a ladies’ man, dating multiple women before settling down with Amy. To her, their relationship seemed solid—at least, that’s what she thought.
Though Amy had been hoping to spend quality time with Mark, she decided to enjoy a peaceful day at home with a good book and some tea. Midway through her reading, she received a voicemail from Tom, Mark’s best friend. Curious, she listened.
Tom mentioned that he would be late for their double date at Coachella, around 2 PM. Amy was confused. Mark hadn’t said a word about any double date. Initially, she considered brushing it off, thinking Tom must have been mistaken. But something felt off. She decided to investigate.
A quick search revealed that "Coachella" was the name of a festival-themed restaurant. With her suspicions growing, Amy went to the restaurant and chose a table with a clear view of the entrance. She sat, nervously hoping that Mark wouldn’t show up—or that, if he did, he would be alone.
Her heart sank when she saw Mark walk in with a stunningly dressed woman by his side. They joined Tom and his wife, Sasha, at their table. The group seemed carefree, laughing and enjoying their afternoon, oblivious to Amy’s presence.
Devastated but determined to act, Amy asked the waiter to deliver the best champagne to Mark’s table. Catching on to the tension, the waiter complied with a knowing smile. As the champagne was served, Amy snapped a discreet photo of Mark with the other woman and immediately posted it on Facebook, tagging him.
When Mark’s phone buzzed with the notification, his face went pale. He looked around the restaurant, scanning for Amy. Meanwhile, she calmly ordered more champagne, wrote a note saying, “To a memorable double date and our divorce, cheers!”, and left the restaurant with grace and dignity.
Hours later, Mark returned home to find his belongings neatly packed. He tried to explain, claiming it was all just harmless fun, but Amy wasn’t interested in hearing his excuses. Mark ended up staying at Tom’s place that night. Amy, on the other hand, made the decision to file for divorce.
What would you have done in Amy’s situation?
