Newlywed couple tragically killed just two days after their wedding

A tragic accident claimed the lives of three people in Knoxville early Sunday morning, according to police. The crash occurred around 3 a.m. on the Weisgarber exit ramp of Interstate 40. A group of three was traveling in a Dodge pickup truck when their vehicle veered off the road and struck a guardrail. After exiting the truck, a Chevy pickup collided with both their Dodge and the individuals, tragically killing all three at the scene. The driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Among those killed were Jessiah Plemons and Lily Rose, a newly married couple who had just begun their life together. Lily was known for her vibrant and joyful personality, often bringing laughter to those around her. Her cousin, August McClelland, fondly recalled how Lily loved making TikTok videos with family and friends. "She was the life of our family," said her aunt, Selena McClelland. "She would light up the room with her laughter."

Jessiah had a deep passion for music, which played a significant role in his relationship with Lily. He introduced her to her first concert and bought her her first guitar. While Jessiah learned to play the drums, Lily picked up the guitar, and the two bonded over their shared love of music. Despite his past struggles with addiction, Jessiah had turned his life around and dedicated himself to helping others facing similar challenges. He sponsored individuals in recovery, shared his story in local jails, and made a positive impact on many lives. His mother, Michelle Plemon, remembered him as a kind and compassionate person.

In addition to his personal triumphs, Jessiah also took on the responsibility of caring for his older sister’s two young children, giving them a stable and loving home to prevent them from entering foster care.

Lily, a devoted mother to her son and daughter, cherished her role as a parent. She and Jessiah had recently decided to blend their families and secretly got married, a joyful milestone they had yet to share with their loved ones. Jessiah’s sister, Milea Effler, had been asked to take care of the children on Friday, unaware that the couple had planned to wed. She later discovered the news of their marriage through social media, only to be met with the heartbreaking news of the accident shortly afterward.

The community is now mourning the loss of these young lives, cut short just as they were filled with hope and dreams for the future.
