Born on August 5, 1999, Supatra's arrival brought immense joy to her parents, Sompon and Samrerng. However, their happiness was overshadowed by astonishment when doctors informed them that their newborn had an unusual amount of hair. Initial assumptions of normalcy quickly faded as they saw her in the incubator, where her hair covered almost every inch of her body. Even the medical professionals in Thailand were taken aback by her extraordinary appearance.

Doctors later diagnosed Supatra with a rare skin condition known as Ambras syndrome, which is characterized by excessive hair growth covering nearly the entire body, except for the palms, soles, and inside of the mouth. This condition is so rare that only about 50 cases have been documented globally over time, likely resulting from a sudden change in DNA.

When Supatra’s mother was preparing to leave the hospital, doctors hesitated to discharge her, fearing she might abandon her child. Sompon reassured them of her unwavering commitment, stating, “We are lucky that she was born into our family.”

From a young age, Supatra was surrounded by the love of her family. However, she faced unkindness from strangers and peers who did not understand her condition. Throughout her childhood, her face remained hidden beneath a thick layer of hair due to her Ambras syndrome. Traditional hair removal methods, including laser treatment, proved ineffective in controlling her hair growth. At school, she endured mockery from her classmates, facing taunts such as “wolf girl” and “monkey face.”

Despite the bullying, Supatra didn’t grasp the reasons behind their ridicule. She saw herself as a normal girl with a bit more hair, expressing, “It’s the way I am.”

Her teacher, Kuljira Posaeng, noted that while other students were initially intimidated by Supatra's appearance, she eventually proved to be just like any other student. Her teachers recognized her diligence and impressive grades, and she became one of the most popular kids in her class.

As she grew older, Supatra learned to embrace her condition, recognizing that there was no cure for it. She chose to keep her body hair as it was since birth, only shaving her face as a teenager. As her self-esteem blossomed, she found love unexpectedly.

Supatra shared, “It began from friendship, then we became a couple.” Their conversations brought her immense joy, and their bond felt natural. She experienced a kind of love she never thought would be hers: “It was a kind of love that I didn’t expect would happen to me.”

Eventually, she married her boyfriend, referring to him as “the love of my life.”

Supatra later shared images of herself without facial hair, leading some to speculate about a potential cure. However, her father clarified that she had chosen to shave her facial hair to reveal her new look, with only the hair on her head remaining.
