Twenty-five-year-old Lisa Lee shared a heartbreaking story with Metro.
One night, as they slept together, Lisa woke up to what she believed was her husband snoring. Since Lewis didn’t typically snore, Lisa gently nudged him to make him stop. However, when she noticed the sheets were wet, she immediately felt something was wrong. She turned on the light to find his face bruised and realized he was struggling to breathe.
''I thought he was snoring, so I pushed him out of bed to stop. But when I felt the sheet was wet, I realized something was wrong. I turned on the light and looked at his bruised face because he couldn’t breathe. I called the ambulance, but until it arrived, it seemed as if an eternity had passed,” Lisa shared.
Panicked, she called an ambulance, but it felt like an eternity before help arrived.
When the paramedics finally reached them, they delivered the devastating news: Lewis had passed away hours earlier.
Lisa couldn’t believe it, especially after hearing what she thought was snoring. The doctors explained that the sounds she heard were actually air escaping from his body as it touched his vocal cords.
Lisa had known that her husband suffered from Brugada syndrome, a rare, inherited heart condition that affects the heart’s rhythm. Although it can be life-threatening, doctors had reassured them that he would live a long life, and his condition was not immediately dangerous.
Tragically, just a year after his diagnosis, Lewis passed away.
Our hearts go out to Lisa and her family during this unimaginable loss. May Lewis rest in peace.
