At 65, He Married His Friend’s Daughter—But What He Discovered on Their Wedding Night Broke His Heart
At sixty-five, he had long accepted that his final years would be spent in solitude. His wife had passed away five years earlier, and every evening since, he had returned to an empty house, carrying only memories.
But everything changed one evening when he visited an old friend. There, he met his friend’s young, unmarried daughter. She was full of life, far younger than him, yet something unexplainable sparked between them. Their conversations stretched for hours, and in each other, they found warmth and understanding they had been missing. Before long, feelings blossomed into love—deep, undeniable, and impossible to ignore.
Her father, however, was furious. “You’re shaming the family!” he shouted, locking his daughter away. Separated, they clung to letters, stolen glances, and fleeting moments. Their love survived in silence and secrecy, despite every attempt to keep them apart.
They fought for the right to be together—and eventually, against all odds, they won. Their wedding was a day of pure celebration: he felt young again, she radiated joy, and it seemed that happiness was finally within reach.
But on their wedding night, everything changed.
As he gently unbuttoned her wedding dress, expecting tenderness and closeness, his hands froze. Beneath the lace, her back was covered in fresh wounds—deep, cruel marks that told a story of pain. She turned her face away, tears shimmering in her eyes.
“It was Father,” she whispered. “All this time, he beat me. He said I had brought shame on him… on our family.”
The old man’s heart shattered. Rage and sorrow washed over him as he realized the price she had paid for their love. With trembling hands, he held her close, careful not to hurt her wounds.
“Never again,” he murmured. “You will never be alone. I will protect you, always.”
That night was not just the beginning of a marriage—it was the beginning of a vow. For the rest of his life, he would stand by her side, shield her from pain, and give her the peace and safety she had been denied for so long.
